Supporting Sustainable Menstrual Health
Saathi is a social enterprise founded by my sister with the goal of addressing
period poverty through the distribution of reusable menstrual underwear. I’ve been involved as a
lead volunteer since its inception - supporting operations, logistics, outreach, and awareness
across India, the UAE, and Africa.
In August 2023, I travelled to rural Bihar to lead the on-ground distribution of over 1,500
units of menstrual underwear at Vidya Vatika Public School in Samastipur. I helped
organise supply kits, explained product usage and hygiene to students in Hindi, and worked to create
an open, respectful environment by ensuring girls could speak freely. We expanded the distribution
to nearby schools and later facilitated international outreach through corporate partnerships.
In recognition of the initiative’s social impact and scalability, Saathi was
awarded 3rd place globally in the Diamond Challenge for Social Innovation. I co-presented the
business plan and worked closely on operations, helping to secure the $4,000 prize. This experience
deepened my understanding of how product-based social entrepreneurship, when combined with empathy
and execution, can offer a meaningful response to issues often left unspoken.
